Peru is a fantastic place to combine a little bit of everything. Although Peru is a paradise for adventurers, this does not mean that Peru cannot offer the desired luxury that many travelers are looking for. Not only does the country have a wide selection of premium vacation hotels, but it is quickly turning into one of the world’s hot spots and offers fine dining that can definitely compete with your vacation.

For those who can’t resist the idea of golden beaches, the northern coasts of Peru certainly offer all the sun, sea and Pisco they could wish for. Alternatively, for a little more adventure, various hikes to Machu Picchu or a trip to the Amazon jungle will make you gasp. We have collected some of our favorite experiences in Peru, which makes it a wonderful luxury travel destination.

Discover the wonder of Machu Picchu

Let’s start with the obvious – no visit to Peru will be complete unless you look at Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lost city of Machu Picchu (translated to the old mountain) was completely self-sufficient, and Chasquis (the Peruvian word for messenger) maintained places along the current Inca path to ensure the existence of communication. The cloud-covered ruins include temples, baths and houses, some of which are still in a remarkable state of preservation. The mystical zone was not discovered by the outside world until 1911, when American explorer Hiram Bingham stumbled upon the ruins in search of another lost city.

There are many ways to get to Machu Picchu -the most luxurious is the Vistadome train with panoramic windows that show stunning scenery as you travel through the mountains. For those looking for more challenges, the Inca Trail is the most popular hiking trail, followed by the Lares and Salkantai hikes. Please note that there is no accommodation on the Inca Trail, so camping is necessary, but Salkantay-Trek offers hotels and guest houses for more sophisticated hiking.

Flying over the Nazca Lines

To say that Peru is a secret country is fair and leads us to the next exciting adventure – the Nazca lines. These massive geoglyphs were formed by incisions in the rich soil of the Nazca Desert and are believed to have formed between 500 BC. While some lines are straight along the landscape, others are fused into animal and plant shapes. Due to the isolated situation and stable climate, the lines are naturally very well preserved. The first mention of secret forms occurred in 1553, when they were simply considered signs of the way. Over the centuries, countless historians and archaeologists have tried to determine the purpose of the lines. One of the most popular assumptions is that they were created to determine the position of the Sun and other celestial bodies, while others claim that they were shaped so that they could be seen by deities.

Flying over the Nazca lines is the best and only way to find out the size of these lines. If you want a private flight to the party, you’ll see more.

Stay in luxury accommodation in the Amazon jungle

For the best nature experience, few adventures can boast of staying in the heart of the Amazon jungle. The beautiful rainforest is considered the most species-rich place on the planet and is home to about 600 species of birds, 1,200 species of butterflies and more than 300 reptiles, including many other mammals.

Hire a local guide and learn all about the flora and fauna that coexist in the jungle and enjoy unique experiences such as piranha fishing, jungle trails and river cruises. Incaterra Reserva Amazonica is one of the most beautiful eco-houses on the Peruvian side of the jungle and offers luxurious cottages in the heart of nature. Wake up to the sounds of wildlife, enjoy breakfast with stunning jungle views and relax at Sight Spa in one of the quietest places in the world.
